Benefits of PP transparent masterbatch and halogen-free flame retardants

Published: 2019-12-13Views: 80

As global supply chains integrate, many products are developed and sold across borders, and flame-retardant masterbatch for PP filament is no exception. Compared with domestic grades, overseas products have a longer history and more mature technology, yet flame retardants made in China have also developed strongly, with a very broad market outlook. In recent years public awareness has risen and national policy has encouraged it, so product development has moved toward environmentally friendly solutions; this is even more pronounced in markets where environmental awareness is high. Many environmentally friendly flame retardants are already on the market.

Recommendations for using flame-retardant masterbatch in PP filament:
1. PP grades differ in melt index, so the optimum dosage of flame-retardant masterbatch varies slightly.
2. When regrind is used, increase the dosage by 30-50%.
3. Do not add calcium carbonate, talc or similar fillers, which sharply reduce or cancel the flame-retardant effect.
4. Start with a 5% trial, then adjust up or down according to the required rating and cost targets.

The relationship between flame retardant price and polypropylene formulation: China has developed many series and thousands of flame retardant grades to serve every industry. Because polymer structures differ, so do their burning behaviour and decomposition paths, and the demands on the flame retardant vary widely. Polymers are highly flammable materials.

Does a higher price always mean a better formulation for your product? Whether a flame retardant suits your part can only be proven by testing. Environmentally friendly, halogen-free, low-smoke flame retardants are increasingly preferred, and PP flame-retardant masterbatch keeps expanding its range of applications.
